Juice Box
The juice is worth the squeeze, so stay with it. Do something 100 times to learn its essence and become proficient.
A Love, Ando brand. A rebrand of Hundy (a.k.a. OHT / “One Hundred Thousand”).
The three laws (proven across all five runs)
Full write-ups and receipts in the case studies.
- Self → Other: every run starts about Ando (ego) and resolves into other people (service). Books → the Ideal Reader. Covers → the guest. Videos → filming others. Artifacts → removing himself entirely. Coats → someone else’s name on the back.
- Compression toward essence: mastery makes the output shorter and simpler. “Second draft = first draft − 10%.” 60s video → ~0.7s clips. 3-day coat → under 2 hours.
- The breakthrough around 60: the curve is nearly identical every time (exciting ~20 → wall ~40 → false summit ~60 → real lessons in the final stretch). The last 40 teach process and systems (batching, efficiency), not fundamentals, which is what frees you to move laterally.
The rebrand
Same core philosophy, new wrapper. “Hundy” was a funky name; Juice Box is a fun, poppy design brand. (Still a love for the number structure of “One Hundred Thousand,” same as 7300, number aesthetics are a through-line in how things get named.) The concept itself didn’t change, only the branding.
The arc of the 100
The heart of the brand is the emotional curve you move through, nearly identical every time:
- First ~20: exciting.
- ~40: you hit the wall; it’s really hard to keep doing.
- ~60: a false summit: “oh, I’ve got this.” (You don’t.)
- Final stretch: the real lessons land, and you level up as a person for staying with something so easy to give up on.
The whole point is staying with something that’s easy to abandon: especially when you think you’ve mastered it but haven’t.
The five proof runs
The thesis was validated by running it across totally different crafts, and the curve held every single time. Each run is documented as story + artifacts + lessons
- “what rep 100 had that rep 1 didn’t”:
- 100 Book Reviews: writing; Stephen King’s On Writing; the Ideal Reader.
- 100 Threded Covers: design; Midjourney + face-swap; built mobile-only in Keynote.
- 100 Short Videos: video; wordless storytelling; 60s → ~0.7s clips.
- 100 AI Artifacts: image; a wordless life archive; the endgame of the Love, Ando book.
- 100 Chore Coats: sewing; the STATE signature; hobbyist → manufacturer; ties into The Lateral.
The discovery: run the same experiment five separate times across writing, design, sewing, video, and image, and the curve is nearly identical. That’s what turns Juice Box from a slogan into a validated system. See the synthesis for how they cross-pollinate.
Mission
Help people become tradesmen, learn a real craft by staying past the point most quit. A chart of the 100 (the curve mapped and explained) would be a valuable artifact for people to apply to their own lives.
